Hair Transplant in Turkey: Before and After Transformations

Turkey, a beautiful country known for its sandy beaches and historic cities, is also one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Many people around the world are unaware that Turkey is also becoming a popular destination for medical tourism, particularly for cosmetic procedures like hair transplantation.

Turkey hair transplant costs are significantly lower than those seen elsewhere in the world. The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure costs between $7,000 and $25,000 in Europe and the United States, depending on location. However, the total cost of treatment in Turkey, including transportation and lodging, ranges between $2,200 and $7,000, depending on a variety of factors such as the number of grafts required, the method used, the clinic, and the physician who performed the procedure.

Furthermore, surgical techniques such as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), which is primarily used for crown hair transplants, are preferred in Turkey because they cause the least amount of pain during recovery, leave no visible scars, and promote faster healing. Furthermore, there are no scalpels, staples, or sutures used during the procedure. In contrast to the FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) technique, which involves skin excision, the FUE technique involves removing follicular units from the patient’s donor region and transplanting each unit to the thinning area one at a time.

Hair transplantation is one of the operations that can be called easy. However, it is a fact that this is an operation and has some requirements. In this article, the points to be considered before and after the operation will be shared below. Keep reading!!

Things to Consider Before Hair Transplantation

Before deciding on hair transplantation, it is critical to conduct thorough research in order to understand what to expect before and after the procedure. All of your concerns about the surgery must be discussed in depth with your hair transplant surgeon. The surgeon’s experience and expertise are critical for the success of hair transplants. You must investigate the surgeon’s experience and success rates. It is advisable to first schedule an initial consultation with the surgeon to address all of your concerns and to discuss the cost, type, and recovery of the procedure.

If you are taking any of the following medications (which increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure), you must discontinue them one week before your hair surgery:

  • Anti-inflammatory medications.
  • Aspirin.
  • Vitamin B or E.
  • Blood thinners.
  • Herbal medicines.

It is recommended that you inform your surgeon about any other medications you are taking. It is also advised not to smoke or consume alcohol for at least one week prior to the procedure. These can cause poor healing by reducing blood flow to the scalp.

Things to Consider After Hair Transplantation

After the procedure, recovery time varies between individuals and can range from two days to two weeks. The surgeon will wrap a bandage around your donor site and a headband around your brow. From the night of the procedure and for the next five nights, you must sleep with your head elevated on two pillows to maintain a 45-degree angle. For a few days, you may experience swelling, itching, and pain, which the surgeon will treat with medication.

The following day, the surgeon will remove the bandage and instruct you on all post-op care. You can wash your hair as the surgeon demonstrated on the second or third day. Alcohol should be avoided for three days after surgery, and smoking should be avoided for at least two weeks.

If you spend more than 30 minutes in direct sunlight, you must wear a hat for three months. Limited physical activity is permitted during the first week, but strenuous exercise must be avoided for two weeks following hair transplantation. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities within 2 to 3 days of their hair transplantation.
