BINGE EATING AFTER BARIATRIC SURGERY

If you are having gastric bypass surgery, gastric sleeve surgery, or some other form of weight loss surgery, the aim is to minimize the overall amount you eat and absorb into your body. As a result, over-eating after gastric sleeve or gastric bypass surgery becomes even more complicated. However, it is not impossible, and overeating after weight loss surgery can have some significant effects, including but not limited to reversing any weight loss that has occurred. So, what’s going to happen if you overeat after bariatric surgery?

Risks of Eating Too Much After Bariatric Surgery

Extreme abdominal pain and cramps are the most common reaction to overeating following bariatric surgery. Part of what makes it so difficult to heal from weight loss surgery, and yet so important to long-term success, is that it causes the body to “punish” overeating habits with pain. Not only are you not going to be able to eat as much, but you’re also not going to want to because of the pain. Another popular answer is that your body refuses food. Vomiting may occur if you eat too much, but it may also occur if you eat the wrong food at the wrong time.

Diarrhea is another complication that happens when you eat too much after a gastric sleeve or a gastric bypass surgery. This is due to the malabsorption of food while the digestive tract is attempting to absorb it. Other more serious complications may arise if the patient overeats after surgery, which may lead to significant intestinal and stomach problems. Apart from all these dangers, the risk of experiencing these complications is lowered the more time you have spent post-op. As a result, it’s not rare for people to get into the groove of eating, and then eventually slip back to overeating and that can result in a reversal of weight loss. So, what can you do to prevent this?

Eat Small Portions: Keep your portions small. Your doctor will provide you with prescribed portion sizes at different post-op points. Through consuming small portions, you are more likely to consume more of the nutrients in the food while feeling more whole. If you’re in a situation where large quantities of food are given to you (like at a restaurant or a social gathering), make sure that you get half of the food you get and save the rest for later, or for someone else to have. Don’t be afraid to reject large portions of food, because you just had surgery, and it might be dangerous!

Eat Slowly: Overeating habits also evolve early in life alongside fast eating. Eating quickly allows you to feel less full, encouraging you to eat more. During gastric sleeve or gastric bypass surgery, this may have very painful effects. Through eating slowly, you’re going to let your body tell you when it’s full and you don’t want any more food.

Drink Between Meals, Rather Than with Meals: You should drink between meals instead of drinking with a meal that takes up space in your stomach. This has two effects. The first consequence is that it avoids possible problems from overeating since there are dangers if your stomach has too much food in it. The second result is that it helps you to feel complete every day. You’re not hungry for a short time because you’ve had plenty to drink.

In Summary

  • Overeating after gastric sleeve or gastric bypass surgery may lead to painful complications and weight loss reversal.
  • Eat small portions, and let your doctor tell you how much you should be eating.
  • Eat at a slow speed.
  • Drink water and other beverages between meals.

7 FACTS ABOUT TUMMY TUCK

After losing a lot of weight, after a pregnancy or due to genetics, the skin around the abdominal area can become loose and drop due to the loss of elasticity. As a consequence, this can cause confidence problems, but it can be overcome by performing a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. A tummy tuck is also known as abdominoplasty, a procedure that involves removing excess skin from the abdominal region of the body and then flattening and tightening it. In this blog post, we’re going to cover 7 details about the tummy tuck as well as the various types of tummy tucks available.

  • There are different types of tummy tucks: Various forms of tummy tucks can be done based on the amount of excess skin and fat required to be removed from the treatment area:

–      Full tummy tuck: This is the typical tummy tuck ideal for patients who need a lot of skin and fat to get rid of. This operation not only removes excess skin and fat but can also repair torn muscles in the affected region.

–      Extended tummy tuck: This procedure is recommended for patients who wish to remove excess fat and skin from their lower back, flanks, or upper hip regions. If necessary, this technique can also repair torn muscles.

–      Mini tummy tuck: This type of tummy tuck is indicated for patients who have a small amount of excess skin on the area between the belly button and the pubic region and the skin has a wrinkled appearance. This procedure tightens the area and if necessary, repairs are torn muscles.

  • The scar is going to fade away: A lot of patients are worried about the scar after their tummy tuck. The scar resulting from a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty fades away with time, usually takes about a year to fade. Your surgeon will also prescribe some creams to further reduce the visibility and redness of the scar.
  • The recovery will take a few weeks: The downtime needed after a tummy tuck procedure is approximately three weeks. After the operation, you would need to stay overnight in the hospital to make sure there are no complications. When you have been discharged from the hospital to keep the abdominal region straight, you will need to wear an abdominal support garment for two weeks, and you will be advised to take painkillers to alleviate any pain.
  • It is not a weight loss procedure: Tummy tucks are a procedure to remove excess skin after losing a lot of weight, after birth, or due to aging to create a flatter and firmer belly. Before you undergo abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, we suggest that you maintain your ideal weight, as any weight changes will affect the results and will require additional surgery to correct the results. If you’re thinking about getting pregnant after a tummy tuck, you need to be aware that your skin may stretch again and that you will need revision surgery to recover from the loss of results.
  • Men undergo tummy tucks too: Tummy tucks are a common procedure among women due to pregnancy, but many men undergo this procedure to remove excess skin after losing a significant amount of weight and restoring broken muscles.
  • A tummy tuck can remove love handles: Standard tummy tucks do not target the love handles; however, the extended tummy tuck will remove the fat around the area. If you’re trying to only remove the fat and you don’t have excess skin, VaserLipo or liposuction would be a better option.
  • Recovery of a tummy tuck: Recovery from the tummy tuck or abdominoplasty takes about 3 weeks. Since having a tummy tuck operation, you should expect the following aftercare:
  • Wear your garment for 2 weeks.
  • Take antibiotics and pain killers for 2 weeks after the operation.
  • Swelling in the treatment area. We suggest the use of a cold compress to minimize swelling. Often consult the doctor before doing so to ensure that there is no difficulty in doing so.

Always follow your doctor’s advice on aftercare and ensure that you attend follow-up appointments.

BARIATRIC SURGERY OR EXERCISE; WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

For patients having trouble achieving their weight loss goals, bariatric surgery is often a viable option. Bariatric surgery, or weight-loss surgery, helps patients to boost their health and self-confidence by helping them with substantial weight loss. If you are overweight and consider the best path forward, MayClinik will help lead you to the best choice for your health needs. Here, we have presented details comparing two types of weight loss: exercise vs. bariatric surgery.

Bariatric Surgery

Depending on the particular procedure, bariatric surgery helps patients to enjoy weight loss by minimizing how much they can eat or inhibit calories consumed and reducing the body’s ability to absorb calories. Gastric sleeve surgery, for example, decreases the size of the stomach such that fewer calories are absorbed. Gastric bypass, on the other hand, includes making improvements to the stomach and small intestines such that the stomach may retain fewer calories and the small intestine cannot consume calories as quickly.

Success Rate of Bariatric Surgery

According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (AMSBS), patients lose significant weight in the months following their procedure. Approximately half of the bariatric patients recover around 5% of their weight loss in the two- or three-years following surgery. Longitudinal studies indicate that most patients with bariatric surgery enjoy and sustain long-term weight loss equal to or greater than 50% of excess body weight.

Weight Loss Through Exercise

Before taking bariatric surgery, patients should have tried non-surgical weight-loss approaches, namely, a balanced diet and daily exercise. Exercise not only helps to lose extra pounds, but it also has other physical and mental health benefits, such as enhancing mood and improving cardiovascular health. Despite these benefits, many patients who are overweight feel that these approaches to reducing excess body weight are ineffective.

When Bariatric Surgery Is a Better Choice?

In certain cases, losing weight as soon as possible is the best option for one’s wellbeing. People with a BMI of 40 or more or with a BMI of 35 or more with obesity-related conditions, such as diabetes, are considered morbidly obese. If you fit into this group, rapid weight loss due to bariatric surgery is superior to gradual and often futile attempts to lose weight by exercise and diet alone.

When Exercise Alone May Be a Better Choice?

The main benefit of bariatric surgery is the fast effects of its lower weight. As with every surgery, there are certain dangers associated with bariatric operations, including the creation of infection. Besides, while MayClinik Team is proud to have successful and secure bariatric procedures at reasonable rates, some people may be overburdened.

CHIN AUGMENTATION

During the chin augmentation procedure, an implant is positioned along the chin to improve the chin, jawline, and overall balance of the face. A good candidate for this procedure normally has a receding chin that can make the nose appear wider or obscure the difference between the chin and the neck. Chin implants come in different sizes and shapes, resulting in normal, subtle outcomes. Sometimes when a patient has a rhinoplasty or a facelift, a chin implant may be prescribed to increase the overall results. For example, a chin implant during a facelift may be recommended to correct mild to extreme jowling by filling the pre-jowl sulcus.

Although a chin implant can greatly enhance the appearance of one’s profile view, it is not the only view from which you can see a difference. As mentioned above a small chin can make the nose look bigger. A small chin may make the top part of the face look too big. Another common concern we hear from patients with a lower face is that they have a double chin. An improvement in chin will benefit by producing a bigger, more developed chin that is considered to be the most desirable for both men and women.

If a chin augmentation is done as a stand-alone operation, it is considered minimally invasive and can be performed in a clinic under local anesthesia. Submental liposuction is usually conducted at the same time to improve the overall appearance of the chin/jawline. The chin implant is placed through a small incision directly under the chin, making the scar very difficult to see.

Patients recovering from chin augmentation have said the pain is typically minimal. After surgery, the chin is taped and wrapped for 5 days before the sutures are removed. It is also very normal for patients to experience temporary numbness in their incision areas. Improvement is clear immediately, but full effects are noticeable after the initial swelling has been resolved after three to four weeks. Chin implants have been designed to last a lifetime and are designed not to move.  Patients can enjoy the benefits of a chin augmentation for the rest of their lives.

EASY BEAUTY TIPS FOR A LAZY WOMAN

Keeping yourself looking great not only needs money, but also time and effort. It’s going to be difficult, particularly if you don’t have enough time to do that. Not every girl can pull out the beautiful look in a few minutes. If you’re in this category, don’t worry, there’s a lot of beauty hacks you should try.  If you want to look gorgeous, but don’t like the thought of wasting hours in the mirror, this article has been covered. It addresses some of the best super-easy beauty tips you can use to improve your beauty. Keep reading to discover them.

  • Invest in Multi-Purpose Products: It’s a smart idea for lazy girls to invest in goods that serve several purposes. Beauty balms are now infused with skin nutrients and give a wide range of colors. That means you can use them as a base, too. Several beauty items can fulfill many purposes. Remember to choose one that suits your skin type.
  • Always Carry a Toner: A lot of people don’t know how important toner is. Ideally, first, wash your face with a cleanser before adding the toner. However, lazy ladies should skip this long process of washing their faces and only add the toner directly. A toner serves a variety of purposes. It cleans and refreshes the skin and can also be used to remove makeup.
  • Invest in a Professional Manicure and Pedicure: Lazy girls may not like the thought of visiting the nail studio more often than not. So, investing in professional manicure and pedicure is a smart idea since a professional nail therapist can make the nails perfectly so that they can last a little longer. Besides, it takes time to paint and make your nails. So, getting your nails done at a reliable opening in a new window nail spa would save you time and resources.
  • Invest in a Good Facial Treatment: Some of the top causes that contribute to unhealthful skin include heavy use of makeup and an individual’s lifestyle. Lack of time and commitment to self-care can also contribute to unhealthful skin. So whether you’re short of time and effort, or you really can’t do the facial treatment on your own, you can go to a trusted beauty salon and get a decent facial. A facial treatment will last between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the type of treatment you choose. It’s just the right choice for women on tight schedules.
  • Prioritize Healthy Skin: When it comes to a beauty routine, skincare is the most important aspect. No matter how little time you have on your hands, you need to take care of your skin. Here is a simple skincare routine that won’t take you more than five minutes:

– Cleanse every night

– Treat your skin with retinol every day

– Moisturize every night

– Wear sunscreen if you are going out

But remember, your skin’s health depends on what you eat, too. So, make sure you’re eating a healthy balanced diet.

TIPS TO STAY HYDRATED AFTER WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY

Everyone needs to remain hydrated during the day and drinking enough water should be your top priority in one day. This is particularly true of patients with bariatric surgery for whom dehydration becomes a cause for hospital stays after the surgery.

Some useful tips to stay hydrated

  • Carry a water bottle with you at every place.
  • Set an alarm that prompts you to drink.
  • Use an app to keep track of your fluid intake.
  • Intake of your favorite juice and shakes to stay hydrated.

Drink Responsibly

After the treatment, the impact that alcohol has on the body shifts. Studies have also shown that there is an increased absorption of alcohol, and the removal of alcohol following surgery in both men and women takes longer. Those foods that are needed to heal should not be replaced. It is important to stop consuming alcohol for at least six months after the surgery. After the surgery, the stomach size is diminished, it becomes thinner, and it does not bear the same amount of alcohol as it used to hold before.

Know the Signs of Dehydration

  • Feeling thirsty
  • Dizziness or nausea
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Headache
  • Dark, concentrated urine

Drink fluids, but not all

Drinking fluids is advisable, but for the first three months after surgery, some liquids such as coffee and carbonated drinks should be avoided. Such kinds of drinks, particularly when your stomach is still recovering, can cause acidity and disrupt the stomach. Some beverages are super high in calories and added sugars, such as beer and sodas, so it might be hard for them to fit into your daily calorie intake. A lifetime dedication and the secret to ensuring a patient’s all-new stomach recovers properly is to remain hydrated after bariatric surgery!

BREAST FEEDING AFTER NOSE JOB

There are thousands of individuals who want to have nose surgery. Following nose surgery, female patients are concerned about breastfeeding. “Is nose surgery feasible during breastfeeding?”, “How long do I have to wait after nose surgery to breastfeed?” and “How long does anesthesia last in breast milk?” are the common questions. Babies get only breast milk as nutrients in the first 6 months of their lives, as it is known. Nose surgery can only be preferred after the breastfeeding period has finished. For any kind of procedure that involves anesthesia, this rule also applies. In other words, when their babies start consuming supplementary food, mothers and applicants may begin to suggest rhinoplasty.

Anesthesia changes the structure of breast milk

We reported that after the first 6 months, nose surgery can be scheduled after the baby begins supplementary food. Medications administered during anesthesia and other related conditions during surgery, on the other hand, induce changes in the breast milk composition. Babies should never be breast-feeding in this process. Although they correspond with the time when supplementary food began, breast milk still should not be cut. Therefore, it is possible to accumulate enough breast milk before the effects of anesthesia are over and it can be supplied to the baby through a baby bottle.

You should decide with your doctor

Additionally, you should certainly tell the doctor who will conduct your operation if you want to get a nose job after your birth. Thus, your plastic rhinoplasty surgeon will instruct you and make his recommendations in this direction. You will continue with the procedure in a very safe manner for both your baby and you by following these instructions.

Some recommendations

We will share some general suggestions for mothers planning to have nose surgery during breastfeeding in the last section of our article:

  • The baby should not be breastfed during anesthesia, as we discussed earlier. While, depending on the person and surgery, there are slight variations, the anesthetic effect passes within 8 hours on average. You will be informed about this by your doctor.
  • During the healing process of the nose procedure, there is no big deal that will require you to worry about the welfare of both your baby and you.
  • You can protect your nose from any form of trauma (injury) after nose surgery, just like anyone else. You should avoid sudden nose movements that your baby may do while on your lap for this reason.
  • Before nose surgery, you must continue within the strict rules specified by the doctor. You should, for instance, be very careful about nutrition, especially as a mother.
  • Women who have nose surgery should probably seek help from their relatives for breastfeeding. Baby aftercare is at the top of the list where they can request assistance, which can be heavy duty, especially right after surgery. As a matter of fact, after the procedure, individuals who have nose surgery should have a good rest and move less during the day.

SEASONAL HAIR LOSS

The yellowing of leaves, shorter days, and colder temperatures are all signs of the changing seasons. Autumn also heralds major shifts in the human body. Don’t get too worked up if you’re already seeing more hair on your pillow in the morning or clumps coming out in the shower. It’s most likely just a period of seasonal hair loss. In this blog, you’ll learn about seasonal hair loss, its causes, and what steps to take to keep calm as the seasons change.

What causes it?

The evidence for a connection between accelerated hair shedding and the transition from summer to autumn is growing. Hair cover, according to dermatologists, is required in the summer months to protect against the sun. Hair is thought to shed as the seasons shift from summer to fall. As a result, hair shedding increases. Another common clinical theory is that hair sheds in the autumn to make room for thicker winter hair. When hair enters the telogen process at the start of autumn, it ensures that hair growth will increase during the winter months. It may also be an evolutionary phenomenon linked to shorter days and changes in daylight. Seasonal hair loss occurs and affects millions of women around the world, regardless of the science behind it. Is there a way to avoid the seasonal hair loss epidemic now that we’ve shed some light on it? Continue reading to learn more about the small adjustments you can make to minimize hair loss while keeping your hair and scalp safe.

Some tips to prevent it

You can’t maintain the same hair care routine all year, just as you can’t wear the same type of clothing all year. It’s a good idea to change up your hair routine in preparation for the colder months.

  • Stay Hydrated: Hair hydration and moisture are important aspects of hair care, particularly when the weather gets colder. A deep conditioning mask assists in the preservation of moisture in the hair. Reducing the use of heat tools and heat styling would also aid in moisture retention. Remember that drinking water keeps your body and, as a result, your hair hydrated.
  • Use Supplement: Biotin is a fantastic supplement for maintaining hair health. It’s a B vitamin, and while supplements won’t stop you from shedding your hair excessively, they will help keep your hair safe. Biotin strengthens hair and makes it look smoother by preventing breakage. Another essential nutrient for hair health is vitamin C. It aids in the production of collagen, which is an important component of the hair structure. Vitamin C also aids the absorption of iron from the gut.
  • Protection of Elements: Vitamin C also helps iron absorption from the intestine. Autumn and winter weather are some of your hair’s biggest rivals since they are colder and wetter. The easiest way to stay warm is to keep your hair under wraps by wearing a hat. However, keep in mind that your scalp needs to breathe as well, so don’t overtighten your headgear. It’s not good for your hair if your scalp isn’t well circulated. It’s worth remembering that wearing a hat will make your head sweat, which can irritate your scalp. When it comes to wearing hats, it turns out to be a juggling act.
  • Maintain Regular Trimming: Getting rid of split ends is one of the most important ways to keep your hair safe. Trimming the ends is, therefore, necessary if you want to avoid seasonal hair damage. Hair that is dry and brittle is prone to breaking and getting dry ends doesn’t help. So, even if it’s just for a trim, keep your hairdresser appointment.
  • Pay Attention: When your hair begins to thin and the part widens, paying attention to your hair’s part regularly will give you a head start. Is your hair shedding or simply falling out? In the fall and winter, the air is also drier. A static charge is generated when woolen hats are placed on and taken off. Hair breakage may occur as a result of this, as well as friction. While this isn’t exactly hair loss, it can cause hair thinning. The good news is that hair loss caused by the season is only temporary, and your hair will regrow when the time comes.

Seasonal changes and their effects on your hair are undeniable. If you believe that excessive shedding is caused by something other than the weather, you should act quickly. Mayclinik has several hair losses therapies for both men and women. A consultation with one of our expert surgeons will help you get to the root of your hair problems and determine the best treatment option for you.

EFFECT OF ALCOHOL ON HAIR

It’s no secret that having a good time and let go now and then is good for the soul. However, indulging in nights of fun and alcohol can be harmful to your wellbeing. Alcohol affects nearly every part of your body, and when consumed in excess, it has a detrimental impact on your entire body. While liver damage is one of the most well-known side effects of alcohol consumption, hair loss is also a common side effect. Hair loss can be caused by drinking alcohol for a variety of causes, ranging from hormonal imbalance to inadequate diet. To stay safe, hair strands depend on how hydrated and nourished your body is. Alcohol dehydrates your body, leaving your hair dry, brittle, and vulnerable to breakage.

What Does the Science Say?

However, no evidence drinking alcohol causes hair loss. However, excessive alcohol intake can cause nutritional deficiencies, which can contribute to hair loss. To stay hydrated, nourished, and healthy, your hair needs specific nutrients. Alcohol consumption causes a deficiency of these nutrients. Alcohol can cause hair loss by messing with how your body absorbs and uses food/nutrients naturally, or by preventing your body from having enough nutrients due to a poor diet.

How Does Alcohol Effect Your Body to Cause Hair Loss?

There are many processes taking place in your body, many of which require water as a vital component. As the amount of water available in the body decreases, some changes occur. The various effects of alcohol poisoning on your body are shown below (alcohol is a toxin that your body tries to flush out as it would any other foreign substance).

Malnutrition and Nutrient Deficiency

Zinc, copper, and protein are essential nutrients for proper and healthy hair development. Hair falls out or breaks due to a lack of these nutrients. People who drink too much alcohol don’t eat enough food or eat bad diets that are deficient in the nutrients that the body and hair need. Alcohol also affects the lining of your stomach and causes the digestive tract to produce more acid. The stomach lining is damaged, which prevents the body from processing nutrients.

Dehydration of The Body

Do you know how after a few drinks you get the urge to pee a lot? That’s what diuretics do, and one of them is alcohol. Although dehydration causes a hangover, it also has an impact on the health of your skin. Hydration is also crucial for healthy hair development. Dry skin, itchy scalp, and damaged scalp are all symptoms of chronic alcohol consumption. The hair follicles become malnourished when the scalp is dry and weakened. This causes brittle, dry hair, slow hair development, and ultimately hair thinning or loss.

Inadequate and Poor-Quality Sleep

One of the most common side effects of alcohol is drowsiness. As a result of this impact, many people assume that drinking alcohol can help them sleep better. While alcohol can help you fall asleep faster, it is unlikely that you will get a good night’s sleep while under its influence. You will have poor-quality, disrupted sleep, which will cause tension in your body and mind. Telogen effluvium is a form of hair loss caused by high levels of stress on the body. When the body is under a lot of stress, the hair follicles go into a resting stage too soon, and then they fall out entirely.

Hormonal Imbalances and Hormonal Changes

Hair loss is often caused by hormonal changes caused by alcohol. Excessive alcohol intake can raise estrogen levels in women and testosterone levels in men. Both estrogen and testosterone are sex hormones found in the human body. Excessive alcohol intake has been related to higher levels of these sex hormones in the body, according to research. Androgenetic alopecia, or female and male pattern hair loss, is thought to be caused by these hormones.

Increase in Blood Sugar Level

Alcoholic drinks typically contain a high amount of sugar and other ingredients, which causes blood sugar levels to rise. A high blood sugar level causes a rise in insulin and androgens, which bind to hair follicles. Hair finally falls out as a result of this. As a consequence, pattern hair loss has been related to elevated sugar levels caused by alcohol.

WHAT CAUSES A SEPTAL HEMATOMA?

Nose trauma may cause the septum, which is the region between the nostrils, to gather blood. This is referred to as a septal hematoma. The trauma results in the blood vessels being weakened or broken, which leads to the septum lining pulling away from the cartilage and forming a pocket, allowing blood to pool and accumulate. The surrounding area becomes sore and looks swollen, a red flag that may be present in a septal hematoma. In general, any kind of nasal fracture or injury, the most common type of trauma to the face, causes septal hematomas. All the common causes of septal hematoma are broken nose, surgery, or soft tissue damage.

Types of nasal trauma

External and internal causes may result in nasal trauma. That is, obviously, external trauma when some sort of force is exerted on the nose. Some widespread examples include:

  • Falling
  • Injuries during sporting activities
  • Vehicle accidents
  • Physical assault or abuse

When something enters the nose and causes damage to the cartilage or the blood vessels, internal nasal trauma usually occurs. Common causes of nasal internal trauma include:

  • Inhaling irritants, like chemicals or fumes from cleaners, pesticides, noxious fumes, etc.
  • Infections from nasal piercings
  • Drug use, specifically, sniffing, snorting, or inhaling cocaine or other illegal drugs or legal substances, like glue, used for the same purpose
  • Infections due to the inside of the nose-picking or scratching
  • Placement inside the nose of a foreign object, which is very common with children

Septal hematomas are usually fairly easy to diagnose because the nasal septum is usually thin and rigid. The area will be soft to the touch, and between the nostrils, your doctor will look for swelling. Symptoms you may observe on your own may include the following:

  • Difficulty in breathing through the nose
  • Congestion not explained by a cold or allergy
  • Bruising
  • The overall shape of the nose may appear to be changed
  • Headaches
  • Feeling nauseous
  • Vomiting
  • Feeling faint or fainting

It is necessary to apply ice or a cold pack to the area and make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible if there is damage to the nose that causes severe pain, bleeding, or swelling. If there is evidence of septal hematoma, urgent therapy would be needed to avoid further complications. There would be a need to drain the septal hematoma. This can be achieved with a small incision that will allow the blood to drain, depending on the extent of the swelling, or a larger area may require a more thorough procedure.

To believe that nasal damage can automatically repair itself is a mistake. Fever, inflammation, or abscess may all be the beginning of conditions that are far more severe. A septal hematoma, left to continue to develop, can result in the development of a saddle nose or even in the cartilage between the nostrils dying entirely due to lack of blood supply. It is important to seek your healthcare professional’s advice and treatment earlier rather than later.
